Idaho Falls home damaged by overnight house fire

The Idaho Falls Fire Department battled a large house fire early Sunday.

Neighbors tell KIFI/KIDK that they called firefighters to a home on the 1900 block of Everest around 1 a.m. The house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

Neighbor Brent Taylor said he went to the homeowner, who was already aware of the fire. Taylor called 911.

A press release from the city of Idaho Falls said the fire was contained to the garage. The release says the family was alerted to the fire by a young boy in an upstairs bedroom who smelled smoke.

A neighboring home sustained some minor damage from the fire.

No one was hurt in the fire, according to the press release. The cause remains under investigation.
