17 year old injured in dirt bike accident

A male teenager was injured in a dirt bike accident Wednesday evening near Rigby. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says just after 6:30 p.m., Deputies responded to an injury accident located at 518 N. Yellowstone Hwy. A 17-year-old male from Rigby was operating a 2014 Honda motorcycle eastbound on 518 North. Deputies say, according to witnesses, the juvenile failed to yield to the stop sign located at the intersection with Yellowstone. The teen collided with a 2001 Ford Expedition that was traveling southbound on Yellowstone Hwy. The Sheriff’s Office says, the teen sustained serious injuries to his lower left leg and was transported by Life-Flight to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, but is expected to survive. No other injuries were reported at the scene. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Idaho State Police, Rigby Police Department and Central QRU.
