Update: Missing veteran found safe in Pocatello

Update 2:33 pm: Pocatello Police say a man who walked away from the Idaho State Veterans Home last night has been found safe.

Abrocio “Nick” Jaramillo was found by members of Bannock County Search and Rescue in a structure east of American Road in Pocatello. Jaramillo appeared to be in good condition but was transported to Portneuf Medical Center as a precaution.

Police were aided in the search by members of Bannock County Search and Rescue, Idaho State University Public Safety, Pocatello Fire Department, Portneuf Air Rescue, POW/MIA, and the American Legion.

Original Story: Pocatello Police are continuing to search for a missing man from the Idaho State Veterans Home.

Abrocio “Nick” Jaramillo, 36, was reported missing from the veterans home on Alvin Ricken Drive around 5 p.m. Wednesday evening. Pocatello Police say they believe he walked away from the facility about an hour before that.

Police say Jaramillo is considered an endangered adult because he suffers from Huntington’s disease. Pocatello Police say it is possible that Jaramillo is trying to get to Wyoming where his mother is. Jaramillo reportedly sometimes thinks that his mother is coming to pick him up and police think that he may have left the home so he could meet up with her somewhere. Jaramillo may also have tried to get a ride from someone to get to Wyoming.

Jaramillo may also be headed to Blackfoot or Boise.

Jaramillo has been a resident at the veterans home for nearly a week and has walked away from another care facility where he previously resided.

Jaramillo has a full beard, wears glasses and was last seen wearing a plaid shirt, pants and white sandals with black soles.

If you have any information on Jaramillo’s whereabouts, please contact the Pocatello Police Department at 208-234-6121.
