Work center inmate arrested after fight

Fremont County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested an escaped Idaho Department of Corrections inmate Saturday. Deputies were called to reports of a fight along Highway 33 in Newdale. The sheriff’s office said Austin Mitchell escaped from a work detail and stole a pickup truck. After crashing the truck, Mitchell attempted to carjack another vehicle, but was unsuccessful, according to deputies. Mitchell was arrested on multiple charges and was being held in the Fremont County Jail in St. Anthony.
