Pocatello city council approves annexation of land

Thursday night, the Pocatello city council approved several agenda items.

First, it approved the annexation of about 74 acres of land.

The council voted to annex the land, meaning it will be included as part of city limits.

The land is owned partly by the Pocatello Development Corporation, a few private individuals and the LDS church.

It’s located east of Butte and Clearwater streets. It’s close by the Satterfield Drive area.

While some speculate that this area could be where the new Pocatello LDS temple will go, there has been no officially confirmation. The city council did not mention anything about a temple, they simply approved the annexation.

Also in Thursday night’s meeting, the council voted to approve an agreement submitted by the Bannock County Historical society. The agreement stated that the Fort Hall Replica will now be fully operated by, and run in conjunction with, the museum. The society will be in charge of day-to-day operations.

The city council also declared Apr. 28 as Arbor Day in Pocatello.
