No ID yet on body found in Salmon River
A north-central Idaho sheriff says officials have yet to identify a body that was found in the Salmon River over the weekend.
Idaho County Sheriff Doug Giddings told The Lewiston Tribune that a coroner is expected to release more information about the remains – including a possible identification – soon.
The body was found near a rest area on Saturday morning by Dave Olson, who has been searching for his son’s remains for a few weeks. Olson’s son, Derek Olson, went missing March 20 when his vehicle plunged into the river about 28 miles upstream from where the remains were found.
Giddings noted that authorities are also still looking for the body of a woman, 20-year-old Cayla Danenberg, whose vehicle went into the river last year about nine miles upstream from the rest area.
