Fire causes an estimated $60,000 in damages, cause unknown

The Idaho Falls Fire Department spent several hours battling a fire at a vacant home on Carson Street Tuesday night.

Firefighters were called to the home just before 9 p.m. When crews arrived, heavy fire and smoke was coming from the building.

According to a press release from the fire department, there was heavy damage to the shop addition attached to the garage. The estimated damage is $30,000 to the structure and $30,000 in tools and shop equipment.

No one was hurt in the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
