ISU awards more than $120,450 to fourteen eastern Idaho students

Fourteen eastern Idaho high school students were awarded more than $120,450 in scholarships from Idaho State University.

The students from Skyline, Hillcrest, Blackfoot, Pocatello, Century, Highland, American Falls, Marsh Valley, Snake River and Independence learned about the scholarships through the College of Arts and Letters Road Scholars program.

The program was started in 2016 when the College’s Dean Kandi Turley-Ames wanted to find another way to help combat Idaho’s low go-on rate for students continuing on to college after high school.

High school principals nominated the students who then wrote an essay describing their college and career goals. Students were selected based on their GPA, major of interest and goals highlighted in the essay.
