Holt Arena hosts thousands of LDS youth

Twelve thousand youth from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints packed Holt Arena’s floor Saturday night for one of the largest cultural events.

Youth from all around Eastern Idaho came together to perform several numbers. The cultural event was part of the weekend celebrations for the Idaho Falls LDS temple rededication on Sunday.

There were songs, dance numbers, reenactments of the history of the Snake River Valley – including the history of the Fort Hall reservation and its relation to LDS church history.

President Henry B. Eyring from the First Presidency of the church, as well as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and four general authorities attended the performance.

President Eyring greeted the youth, “It is a great privilege for me to be back in a place and among people who are so dear to me.”

All smiles, he concluded saying, “President Monson loves you and he loves these celebrations featuring the youth of the church.”

The Idaho Falls temple will be dedicated on Sunday in three sessions.
