Bonneville School Board seeks building option input

The Bonneville School Board will host the first of two public meetings Wednesday to discuss the district’s next building project. The board is considering putting that proposal on the August ballot. There are three basic options being considered. The first is to build a new middle school with a core of 1,500 students. That would be enough classroom space for 1,200 students when the building opened. 6th graders would be moved into middle schools. The second option calls for construction of a new elementary school of 650 students, with additional space for special education students. And the third proposal would build a middle school with a 1,000 student core with classrooms for 900 and an elementary school with a capacity of 650 students. The first community meeting was scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 7 at Sandcreek Middle School, 2955 E. Owen Street, in Ammon. The second meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, June 8, in the Rocky Mountain Middle School Auditorium, 3443 N. Ammon Road, in Idaho Falls.
