Community heads out to enjoy Free Fishing Day in Idaho

On the second Saturday in June, both residents and non-residents can enjoy fishing in Idaho without a license. Idaho Fish and Game, along with the Snake River Fly shop set up booths near popular fishing spots in Pocatello. New and experienced fishers could head to the booths to get some tips on fishing and even grab some free fishing gear.

According to Idaho Fish and Game, outside of Idaho Free Fishing Day, anyone over the age of 14 must have a valid fishing license.

The annual Idaho Free Fishing Day allows people who may be new to fishing to get out and give it a try.

“It is fun for all the kids to come out here and have a fun time with all of their family and it is just a good way for people to learn how to fish,” commented Larissa Burnham, a fisher at Edson Fichter Pond.
