Barbara Ehardt announces her bid for Idaho Falls mayor
An Idaho Falls City Council member announced her run for mayor on Thursday. Barbara Ehardt has been on the City Council for 3 1/2 years. The Idaho Falls native is currently a manager at Apple Athletic Club, where she made her announcement.
She is on the Education Foundation Board for the Idaho Falls School District, and coached Division I women’s basketball for 15 years. With all of her other experiences, Ehardt believes she is the leadership the city needs.
“The main reason that I’ve decided to run for mayor – I’ve certainly been encouraged too – but we’re lacking leadership, we’re lacking direction, we’re lacking vision for this city and that’s what leaders bring. We have discontent, obviously we’ve had this ongoing problem within our city – with our police force – these are all problems that should be resolved. Theses are all problems that should not linger. These are problems that I know I can help to address,” Ehardt said.
The vote for the mayoral race is in November. Ehardt is the first to announce her run for the city of Idaho Falls.
