Minor earthquake reported in southern Utah

Seismologists say a minor earthquake shook an area in southern Utah.

The University of Utah Seismograph Stations said the magnitude 3.4 tremor was felt in and around St. George on Wednesday morning.

The epicenter was 9 miles (14 kilometers) south-southeast of St. George.

Seismologists say a total of six earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater have been reported in the area since 1962.

The largest was a magnitude 5.9 quake near Washington in 1992.
