Two arrests made in various Franklin County burglaries
Several burglaries in Franklin County and the city of Preston have been solved.
In a joint investigation, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Preston Police Department arrested two men in relation to several recent burglaries reported from storage units, utility and construction trailers, and residences.
Robert William Sampson, 37, and Timmy Bernard Sampson, 49, were arrested and charged. Both men are from Preston.
According to Preston Police Chief Ken Geddes, police received a tip over the weekend that uncovered more and more information as police investigated the lead. Geddes said police served two search warrants as well as got two consent searches.
Several truckloads of stolen property were recovered from three different locations within both the county and city. The stolen property ranged from power tools, hand tools, fishing equipment, bikes, construction equipment, lawn and garden equipment, as well as other miscellaneous items.
Geddes said that stolen property solved at least seven felony burglaries in Preston City and Franklin County. Geddes said they are still sorting through all of the items, which could possibly result in more burglary cases being solved.
According to a statement from the Preston Police Department, “As we continue to solve theft and burglary cases more charges may be warranted.”
Robert Sampson is charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft receiving stolen property, one count malicious injury to property, and one county burglary possession of tools.
Timmy Sampson is charged with two counts of burglary, one count grand theft, one count possession of stolen property, and one count petit theft.
Both Timmy Sampson and Robert Sampson are currently being held in the Cache County Jail. According to the jail, Timmy Sampson is being held on a $40,300 bond and Robert Sampson is being held on $80,600 bond.
