Missing Downey woman found alive in Bingham County
Update 9:33 p.m.: The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office confirms Ruth Jensen, 70, was found at a friend’s home in Blackfoot late Sunday evening.
Sheriff Lorien Nielson said they were tipped off that Jensen was in Blackfoot after someone reported her going door-to-door asking for directions to her former Blackfoot home.
Jensen is said to be OK.
No other information about her disappearance was provided.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office and Bannock County Search and Rescue personnel have launched a search for a missing elderly woman.
Ruth Jensen, 70, was last seen by a neighbor around 3 a.m. Saturday in Downey. The Sheriff’s Office says Jensen was knocking on the neighbor’s door in the early-morning hours and has not been seen since. Her keys and wallet were found at her home.
Jensen suffers from dementia, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Her family says she gets confused easily.
The Sheriff’s Office said Jensen was last seen wearing a brown plaid sweater, blue jeans and black and white Nike shoes.
The Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue personnel are gathering on Main Street in Downey to conduct a search for Jensen. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (208) 236-7111.
