Mountain lion captured in Utah backyard

Authorities say a mountain lion found in a Utah backyard has been tranquilized and moved back into its natural habitat.

KSL-TV reports the animal was captured Thursday after it settled down under a large tomato plant in Tooele.

Utah Division of Wildlife Resources biologist Tom Becker says the animal started toward a fence after being hit with a dart, but then stopped and fell sleep.

Authorities say the animal was released back into the wild.

Tooele resident Karolina Burton says it was somewhat frightening to see a mountain lion so close to home, but it’s not shocking considering that neighborhoods have encroached further into wilderness areas.
