East Idaho fires update September 7
Fire Fighting resources from Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Center responded to the Black Cap Fire Wednesday night. This lightning caused fire is located six miles northwest of the Craters of the Moon National Monument and is currently approximately 60-acres in size. Seven engines, two dozers, an eight-person initial attack crew and miscellaneous overhead are fighting the fire. Officials report there currently is no estimate of containment or control. There are no structures threatened but there is livestock grazing in the area.
Crews also responded to the Oneida Narrows Fire. This human caused fire is located twelve miles northeast of Preston and was contained at 3.5 acres. Crews estimate to have control of the fire around 7 p.m. tonight (Thursday).
The 148-acre Little Valley Fire started on September 4 was contained the same day and controlled Wednesday at 5:45 p.m.
The Maple Creek Fire (June 25, 2017) and the Maple Creek 2 Fire (July 7, 2017) just north of the Utah boarder and 12-miles East of Preston, ID have burned together. They will be reported now as the Maple Creek 2 Fire. The acreage for this fire is approximately 100 acres.
