Tony Potts named District 33 State Senator
Idaho Falls businessman Tony Potts has been selected by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter to fill the unexpired term of State Senator Bart Davis.
Potts, 40, is a property manager and salesman at Bish’s RV Supercenter in Idaho Falls.
Davis left the position as Senate Majority Leader to become U.S. Attorney for Idaho.
Potts was among three nominees submitted to Governor Otter by the District 33 republican legislative committee to serve out the balance of Davis’ Senate term, which expires in December, 2018.
Potts has a bachelor’s degree in communication from Brigham Young University and is active as a local Boy Scout Leader. He has served as a Republican precinct committeeman and vice-chairman of the District 33 legislative committee. He was an unsuccessful candidate for the Bonneville County Commission.
Potts said he wanted to bring strong conservative values to the Senate. He said he would push for a strong, sustainable economy, lower taxes, and less government.
Potts said he would look for common ground with his fellow legislators and strive to treat fellow lawmakers with respect.
