I-15 reduced to one lane in Blackfoot Monday and Tuesday
The Idaho Transportation Department will close the South Blackfoot Interchange (Exit 89) southbound on-ramp Monday and Tuesday, October 16 and 17 so crews can complete repaving near the ramp.
The ramp closure will begin at 7 a.m. Monday morning and continue through 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
ITD reports I-15 is reduced to one lane in each direction, and the speed limit is lowered.
Officials report I-15 final paving activities on the southbound side will be complete October 23 which will allow all lanes to be open.
“The project started late due to the solar eclipse and crews encountered unexpected soft spots that have slowed down construction,” said ITD Engineering Manager Dan Harelson. “Attempting to complete this project now would be a high-risk activity due to low temperatures, so it is safer to wait to complete the second half of the project once temperatures increase.”
Northbound improvements will be suspended until next spring.
