Madison Fire Department responds to trailer house fire

The Madison Fire Department responded to a trailer house fire just before 3 A.M. Wednesday morning.

The fire was located at 3069 West 3200 South, in the Burton area south of Rexburg.

The occupant saw flames in a corner of the trailer where a space heater was running.

The occupant tried putting water on it but the fire grew too fast.

When firefighters arrived a majority of the trailer house was on fire as well as a car.

Three water tenders shuttled water from the nearest hydrant which was about three miles away.

The trailer house and car were a total loss.

Madison fire sent two engines, three water tenders, an ambulance, a command vehicle and 14 people to work on the fire scene.

No one died and no one was hurt in the accident.

The occupant exited the building safely.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
