Yellowstone records third busiest month on record

Yellowstone National park saw 211,987 visitors in October, making it the third busiest October on record.

High as it was, the number was down 12.4 percent from October, 2016. The busiest October was 2015 when the park saw 252,013 visits.

So far this year, Yellowstone visits are down just over 3 percent from the same period last year at 4,084,763 visits. 2016 was the busiest year on record.

Park officials said several days of inclement and snowy weather may have hurt October numbers.
