Toys for Tots in southeast Idaho needs more toys
Toys for Tots kicked off in Idaho Falls and it needs your help. Organizers say they are running pretty low on toys in the southeast Idaho area.
Toys for Tots is a U.S. Marine Corp Reserve program that started in 1948. You are asked to donate new, unwrapped toys to drop off boxes that are stationed at locations all around the region. The gifts will then be given as Christmas presents to less fortunate children in our community.
“As of right now, we’re about 25 percent of where we were last year. We had over 800 families last year, we had over 1,900 kids that we took care of. Right now we’ve taken care of 166 families and 470 children already, and so we’ve got a long way to go to get toys and meet the demands that we had last year,” said Mike Crowley, the Idaho Falls area coordinator for Toys for Tots.
