Authorities are investigating three crime scenes in Bannock county after high speed chase

UPDATE 12/01/17 6 A.M..:

The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office believes two of the suspects in the car are Stacy Carter, 21 from Chubbuck, and Terrence Griggs, 27 from Pocatello.

UPDATE 11/30/17 8:13 P.M.:

The high speed chase was started by a shooting outside the McDonalds in Chubbuck on Yellowstone Highway.

Bannock County Sheriff Lorin Nielsen says the two suspects involved in the shooting were shot and wounded by Pocatello police.

The shooting started around 5 p.m.

Nielsen is not sure what started the gunfire but one of the individuals in the car was wanted by law enforcement.

Police used spike strips in the 300 block of West Griffith Road, police started shooting at the car, possibly because they felt the car would hit them.

The chase ended around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 30, North Main Street and Hawthorne Road when a police car intentionally nudged the rear of the suspect’s car, causing it to spin out and come to a stop.

The injured man and woman were taken to Portneuf Medical Center for treatment.

The car was driving on its rims after its tires were spiked and those rims were hot enough that when the chase ended, the car caught fire.

Pocatello firefighters responded and put out the flames.

Idaho State Police is investigating the incident to determine whether Pocatello police acted correctly.

UPDATE 11/30/17 7:14 P.M.:

North Main from Highway 30 to Kraft Road is closed while law enforcement investigates the crime scene location.

The closure could extend into the morning commuting hours.

Residents are being asked to avoid the area.
