Jackson winter activities affected by weather

Winter weather has not been kind to winter activities in Jackson and Teton County.

Typically, Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation would begin back country grooming. But this year, the department says there is not adequate snow cover to begin.

Not only a lack of moisture, but temperatures have also been relatively warm for December and the department has been unable to provide outdoor ice rinks.

Officials advise that without adequate snow base, ice rinks in Alta, Powderhorn Park and Wilson Arena will be delayed for the near future. The department has been able to start an ice base at the Jackson Rodeo Grounds.

The Rodeo Grounds rink may be open for public skating by Saturday, December 23.

Conditions may change daily and the Parks and Recreation website will be updated regularly. You can visit it here.
