Man charged for attempting to strangle girlfriend
The Bonneville County Sheriff Office reports a 37-year-old Idaho Falls man attempted to strangle this girlfriend around 7:10 p.m. Friday.
According to the sheriff office, when deputies responded to the 700 block of Eve Dr. to a report of a Physical Domestic between Larry J. Keller and his 36-year-old girlfriend, Keller had already fled the area.
The woman told deputies Keller had his hands around her neck and was choking her until she was eventually able to push him away. She said Keller had a knife and had cut himself with it before fleeing the area.
Officials report the female victim showed signs of injury to her neck but refused medical treatment.
At approximately 9:10 p.m. that evening, deputies located Keller at a residence on Natalie St. He attempted to flee through the back yard, but officials said Keller stopped briefly and held a knife to his neck attempting to keep deputies at bay. Deputies deployed a Taser on Keller after he started cutting on his neck, and deputies were able to gain control of him after a brief struggle on the ground.
Keller was taken into custody and transferred to Eastern Idaho Medical Center for the injury to his neck.
The next day he was transferred to the Bonneville County Jail where he was booked for Felony Attempted Strangulation and Misdemeanor Resisting and Obstructing an Officer.
