Strong economic outlook for 2018
Economists say the economic conditions for 2018 are looking good, and Idaho is one of the top growing states in the country.
A senior economist for Zion’s Bank spoke to the Pocatello Rotary Club today about the 2018 economic outlook. He says 2017 was a surprisingly good year with the stock market rising 7,000 points. The forecast for 2018 is looking pretty good as well. He says business and consumer confidence is a big factor in making the economy so strong. Idaho did pretty well for itself last year. It was the fastest growing state in terms of population with more and more people moving to the Gem State.
“We’ve got a very business friendly environment,” Robert Spendlove, the senior economist for Zion’s Bank, said. “We’ve got elected officials that understand how to get business going and how to encourage economic growth. Also, the quality of life in Idaho is higher than anywhere else.”
Spendlove says more than 25,000 people moved to Idaho last year.
