BLM announces search for Artist-in-Residence

The Bureau of Land Management is looking for an Artist-in-Residence. The artist will spend three days with BLM staff floating and camping along the South Fork of the Snake River, working on their art.

The trip gives artists a chance to learn and be inspired by the history and unique features of the area. Artists of all different mediums such as photography, painting, poetry and even music can apply. BLM will only select one artist. They hope it will be a chance to show off the natural beauty surrounding the Snake River.

“This is a unique program and I think artists are able to look at their world in a different manner,” said Sarah Wheeler with The Bureau of Land Management. “And it provides them the opportunity to really engage in their public lands. One of the reasons it’s so important on a Bureau of Land Management standpoint is, you know, public lands are amazing and we want people to know really what they have to offer. And this allows us a mechanism for showing the world how amazing our public lands are.”

The trip will take place sometime in July or August. The application is open until May 15th. You can apply for the Artist-in-Residence here.
