Fund seeks to help displaced ISU students

A fund-raising campaign has been launched in support of over 70 students who were left homeless after a fire at the ISU Schubert Heights apartment complex last weekend.

The fire started around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31, in a fourth-floor unit after food was left cooking on an active range.

Smoke caused extensive damage to most of the building. Fire suppression systems caused water damage in other parts of the building.

The complex is expected to remain closed for the rest of the semester.

The American Red Cross has been helping the students with assistance funds, hygiene items and medication replacement.

The fundraising campaign is aimed at help the students finish their semester.
