Idaho Falls School District 91 revamps previous failed bond

Idaho Falls School District 91 is hoping to have a newly updated proposed bond on a ballot later this year.

The district says they have been doing a lot of outreach, talking to parents and community members about the best way to move forward. They used surveys to help them get any insight into what next steps they should be taking.

D91 says that the thing they heard the most from the public is that they need to look at the price of the bond.

“The board has spent the last really reviewing that feedback, and has started looking at ways we could reduce scope, and still accomplish the objectives of the upgrades,” said Margaret Wimborne, the Communications Director for School District 91.

This comes after the bond that failed to get the needed two-thirds supermajority in November. The original proposal was a $110 million bond that included renovations to Skyline High School and construction to replace Idaho Falls High School.

The soonest the district can put anything in the ballot is the August election, and they hope to have a better understanding of what that may look like in the next couple of weeks.
