Idaho Falls Gallery Walk supports local artists
Warmer days are on the horizon now that the Idaho Falls Gallery Walk is underway. It’s a chance for the community to see what local artists have been working on.
“It’s a great opportunity to get out in the community and see what’s out there for art and meet some of the artists,” said Lisa Schultz, owner of the Willowtree Gallery. “It’s cheap date night.”
The gallery walk is important to local artists trying to show off and sell their work.
“My favorite thing is to sell some once in a while because I can afford to buy some, a little more paint,” said local artist Roy Reynolds.
With many art sales taking place online these days, the Gallery Walk gives artists a rare chance to interact with the community.
“I think it’s important that artists have a venue and people can see the real thing, interact with the artist, find out information from someone knowledgeable in the arts,” Schultz said.
For some artists, it’s not all about selling their work.
“You know, the pleasure is doing it,” Reynolds said. “And the side benefit are selling one once in a while, you know. It validates what you’ve been doing.”
The Gallery Walk is the first Thursday of every month through October. The next one is June 7th.
