Idaho Gives kicks off in Pocatello
Idaho Gives, the gem state’s largest day of online giving to non-profits, was Thursday. More than 65 southeast Idaho nonprofits are registered this year. For example, this is the fifth year the Idaho Network of Children Advocacy Centers is participating in Idaho Gives.
“They’re role in Idaho is to make sure that children are receiving the services that are necessary and best when they disclose abuse,” said Cassidy Roski, the program director for Bright Tomorrow’s Advocacy Center.
This is the second year Pocatello-Chubbuck-based group Kind Community is taking part.
“Kind Community is a local organization that works to empower, uplift and inspire our community’s youth. So that they know that they’re supported by, not just their parents at home, not just their teachers at school, but the entire community,” said Courtney Fisher, Kind Community’s founding director.
Last year, southeast Idaho nonprofits raised over $122,000 of the nearly $1.5 million raised through Idaho Gives statewide. Since that was reached — 1.5 million is this year’s goal as well.
“That’s really exciting for us because we can then have more options as far as ways to provide support to communities and to children throughout the state. So the more we are able to raise, the more we can benefit kids and that is always something that warms our heart and means a lot to us,” Roski said.
Idaho Gives has raised nearly $5 million for charitable causes in every corner of the gem state since this event started several years ago.
“Idaho Gives is such a great event because it brings all the nonprofit organizations in Idaho together, both locally and statewide. So it’s really just a day to celebrate all the nonprofits and all the amazing work going on in Idaho,” Fisher said.
Idaho Gives end Thursday at midnight. Donations are accepted exclusively online HERE.
