Forest names District Ranger for Salmon region

Kyra Povirk has been named as the new Salmon-Cobalt and Leadore District Ranger for the U.S. Forest Service.

Povirk moved to Salmon from Greybull, Wyoming in 2001 to open an office for a natural resource consulting business based in Idaho Falls. She ran that business for six years before joining the BLM Salmon Field Office in 2009 as a Rangeland Management Specialist. She has been working as Assistant Field manager of the BLM-Challis Field Office since September 2016.

“Kyra will be a great addition to the Forest Leadership Team where her rangeland ecology and management background and line officer experience will serve the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger and Leadore Ranger Districts well,” said Chuck Mark, Salmon-Challis National Forest Supervisor. “Kyra has relationships with city, county and state governments, special-use and range permittees and other external partners and cooperators which are key to successful land and resource management.”

Kyra and her husband, Dave, met as students at the University of Wyoming in Laramie.

She will assume her duties in Salmon on June 10.
