Republican gubernatorial candidate Tommy Ahlquist stops in Idaho Falls on his One Idaho Tour
Republican gubernatorial candidate Tommy Ahlquist is on a major swing of his final campaign push, 133 Idaho towns in just 11 days in all 44 counties. Right now he’s at about 100 towns and stopped by the KIDK Eyewitness News 3 studio Wednesday. He’s calling it the “One Idaho Tour.”
KIDK Eyewitness News 3 anchor Todd Kunz mentioned to him that parts of Idaho are so different from city to rural and often times the smaller towns don’t feel a part of the state governance.
“People feel that way. It’s genuine. It’s not just, people throw it out there. But I always, when you go around to these little communities and you look at the top 200. We have 200 incorporated cities in Idaho. We are rural and people feel forgotten. They feel left behind. In a lot of ways, Americans, we are left behind in healthcare. Look at our healthcare. Look at education. What are we doing with our tax dollars? What are we doing to keep our kids here? There’s a way that we can come together and I believe that the executive branch of government is that rallying cry to say ‘let’s come together as one Idaho and feel like we’re part of something bigger than ourselves.’ And that’s what we’re here, in Montpelier, I was just there this morning. We were back at the senior center and we have friends there that feel like family now. You come back in, roll back into town, and they literally feel like family and there are people like that all over the state,” replied Ahlquist.
Election Day for the primary is Tues., May 15. KIDK Eyewitness News 3 and Local News 8 will have complete live coverage that night from Boise and from Eastern Idaho.
