Realtors help out single mom and her two children
Thursday, Keller Williams Realty celebrated its nationwide service event called “Red Day.” It stands for renew, energize and donate. Hundreds of Eastern Idaho Keller Williams agents participated in the annual event.
“We’re Rexburg, down to Pocatello, Blackfoot, I’m from Rigby, Idaho Falls just all over the area. It doesn’t matter to us where you live you’re our neighbor,” said Lisa Trainor, an Eastern Idaho Keller Williams agent.
This year, the Realtors helped a single mother and her two kids trying to get back on their feet.
“We decided to focus on an individual and just really make a difference in one person’s life,” said Trainor.
Agents, contractors, and local suppliers were all hands on deck fixing up Ashley Allen’s home. They put fresh coats of paint on, fixed up the landscaping, worked on the inside of the home, and put up a new fence.
“We come in and try to make this home a safe place,” said James Billman, an Eastern Idaho Keller Williams agent. “We’re putting up a fence so the little girls can go out and play, and mom doesn’t have to worry about her kids running out in the street and things like that.”
It’s like a dream Allen doesn’t want to wake up from.
“I couldn’t even believe that they were going to do it, and I still really didn’t believe it until today when it was actually happening,” said Allen. “I’m so grateful and thankful for everything that they’ve done and are going to do.”
Keller Williams does projects like this every year because it’s their time to give back to their neighbors.
“Community gives us so much,” said Joe Hedrick, the team lead for Keller Williams, southeast Idaho. “We’re part of the community day in and day out, helping so many families get their homes and what they need.”
This project not only is Keller Williams’ time to give back to the community but helps make a huge difference in Allen’s and her children’s lives.
“Just a place to call home and a nice place,” said Allen. “It’ll be fresh and just super ‘home-y’ and a great place for girls to grow up.”
Keller Williams agents say that although “Red Day” is a one-day event, this particular project will take multiple days. They hope to have everything wrapped up and finished in a few more days.
Keller Williams also says that the work done on May 10 couldn’t have been done without the suppliers; Sherwin Williams donated paint for the house, Rock Solid Granite and Tile, Inc. donated a countertop, Silver Creek Realty donated sinks and faucets, and Harrington and Company helped donate supplies for the fence.
