Bus stop project to begin Monday

Harper Construction will begin work Monday on a revamped bus stop at the northeast corner of East Sherman and North 7th Avenue in Pocatello.

The $250,000 project will feature a new passenger shelter, sidewalks and crosswalks, ADA compliant ramps, landscaping and a digital sign featuring a display of bus information.

“The stop services City Hall, the federal courthouse, and Optimist Park to name a few destinations,” said Maggie Clark, Project Manager. “The new features will make the stop more comfortable for the public and bring it into compliance with the ADA.”

The project is funded by an Idaho Transportation Department Elderly and Disabled Grant of $200,000. $25,000 will come from the City of Pocatello’s Community Development Block Grant, and $25,000 in in-kind labor provided by the City of Pocatello Engineering Department in the form of design, bid, and construction oversight.

The project should be complete by July of 2018.
