Don’t drink and drive or make this mistake when you call a ride
We are still in the deadliest days when it comes to driving. Tomorrow will be a busy day with a lot of expected traffic. We want to remind you to follow all traffic rules, wear your seatbelts and if you plan to drink plan accordingly. The Fourth of July is the deadliest day when it comes to road fatalities.
“Take the time to plan for a ride home or a safe way to get home. We don’t want anybody taking a chance behind the wheel if they have been drinking, even just a little bit because there’s a ton of traffic and that just increases the risk of crashes and incidents and things like that and that’s for any time of year not just this time of year,” says Sgt. Bryan Lovell with the Bonneville County Sheriffs Office.
If you do plan on using a ride share service like Lyft or Uber, there are some safety precautions for that as well. Make sure you ask the driver’s name and who they are here to pick up to ensure you’re going into the right car.
“Having that information and knowing that ensure that you won’t encounter someone that’s out to harm someone or do something criminal or take advantage of someone else,” says Sgt. Lovell.
