New railroad signs

We’ve all seen the railroad crossing signs, but they’re taking it a step further. Operation Lifesaver wants to make sure that you know you’re approaching train tracks.

They’ve gone to different areas in our state including Blackfoot, Shelley and right here in Idaho Falls to add these signs. It says “See track? Think Train.”

They say putting them on the ground makes an extra impact.

“This is a pilot project and that’s kind of the idea is that if somebody is on their device and they’re looking down, if you change the surface of the walkway it will disrupt that cell phone hypnosis and bring them back to looking at their surroundings,” says Travis Campbell, State Coordinator for Operation Lifesaver.

The signs are on the train tracks by the Museum of Idaho downtown. They say they chose the area because there is a lot of foot traffic there.
