2 who oppose grizzly hunt get Wyoming tags

At least two of the 10 people who drew tags to hunt grizzly bears in Wyoming this fall have no intention of shooting bears other than with a camera.

Anti-hunting activist Ann Smith tells the Jackson Hole News & Guide a Jackson resident was selected in the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s recent lottery for a license to hunt a grizzly bear.

The name of the woman has not been made public, but Smith says the woman plans to shoot pictures of any bears she sees.

Last week, Jackson wildlife photographer Tom Mangelsen announced he had landed one of the tags although he has no intention of killing a bear.

The hunt is scheduled to begin Sept. 15 and is the state’s first grizzly hunting season in 44 years.
