Madison and Fremont Counties order burn ban
A burn ban has been ordered for most of eastern Idaho.
The Madison Fire Department, in conjunction with the Board of County Commissioners of Madison County, has declared a temporary open fire ban effective immediately.
This temporary ban will be in place from August 2, 2018 until September 30, 2018.
In essence, this means that no outsides fires will be allowed anywhere in Madison County, with the exception of “recreational fires” as defined in the International Fire Code, and a couple other special exceptions as outlined in the temporary burn ban ordinance.
See paragraph 4. (iv) of the ordinance below.
Violations of this temporary burn ban will be considered a misdemeanor and carry a $100 to $300 fine.
Due to the increasing fire risk a county-wide open burning ban has been implemented for Fremont County. This applies only to private property.
Campfires in designated/approved fire pits, charcoal and propane grills are still allowed.
Any permits that have already been issued are null and void.
The Central Fire District in Jefferson County has also issued a burn ban to its residents. “Central Fire District has issued a burn ban, effective immediately and continuing through 9:00 PM Wednesday, August 1st. Absolutely NO open burning will be permitted. Encircled fire pits and BBQ grills are allowed. The fire chiefs from Roberts and Hamer have extended the ban into their areas as well.”
Bonneville County Commissioners have issued a burn ban that will be in effect until Sept. 30th, 2018.
This affects the unincorporated areas of Bonneville County and prohibits burning of any kind with a few exceptions listed in the resolution HERE.
