Road improvements in time for the school year
There are some road improvements in Jefferson County.
The road by Rigby Middle School, 3800 East has been widened. The project is said to relieve congestion from Rigby middle and high school. They say it is a much-needed improvement for this upcoming school year.
“We have a middle and high school together and between those two we have 3,000 students there, so as you could imagine, a lot of traffic. So by improving that by widening 3800 that would improve traffic flow for parents dropping off students and also high school students as the access Rigby High lane,” says Chad Martin, Director of Secondary Education.
“Our road and bridge crews widened out the shoulders and increased the driving width to 40 feet. So for this area by the middle school, we’ll have two driving lanes and a turning lane to relieve traffic congestion,” says Rebecca Squires, Public Information Officer/Emergency Management.
They are also reducing the turning lanes on the intersection of 3800 East and Highway 48. Right now there are four but there will be three. One to go straight or turn, one for a left turn and the other for southbound. They say that will also help alleviate traffic
