Rabbit Foot Fire grows over 3000 acres
The Rabbit Foot Fire rages on in the Salmon-Challis National Forest, as the fire continues to grow and stays at 0 percent containment.
The fire has grown to over 10,015 acres as extreme weather conditions continued Sunday.
Saturday, the fire was active almost everywhere while under a red flag warning. Spreading north between Moyer Lake and Opal Lake, west of Taylor Mountain and east of Panther Creek. It also reached two miles of the 2011 Salt Fire area.
The fire was also very active west of the Morgan Creek Summit.
On the north, the blaze moved across almost 2000 acres. Burn activity also increased just west and southwest of the Morgan Creek Summit, burning east toward the 055 Road, and along the 055 Road, northwest of the summit.
The Snotel site near the Morgan Summit Road was successfully protected.
Sunday, crews are working to constrain the fire on the east and west continues with line being constructed to tie into the 2011 Salt Fire on the north and the 2007 Van Horn Fire on the south.
Crews are also installing hose and sprinkler systems and removing hazard trees to protect structures.
Three helicopters will support suppression efforts.
Temporary flight restrictions for non-incident aircraft including drones remain in effect.
Stage one fire restrictions are also in effect on the Salmon-Challis National Forest and BLM lands.
