Fire Trail fire still active near Alpine
Firefighting aircraft helped Bridger-Teton National Forest firefighters make progress on the Fire Trail fire near Alpine, Wyoming. The fire started after an ATV accident Saturday afternoon. It is 15 percent contained.
The fire was estimated at around 50 acres Monday, about four miles south of Alpine on the Greys River Road and one mile west in the Squaw Creek drainage. Three helicopters and two “scooper” airplanes made water drops on the fire Sunday.
There are about 70 firefighters battling the fire. There have been no evacuations ordered.
The Squaw-Murphy Road has been closed to the junction with the Greys River Road.
