Fish salvage order issued for Treasureton Reservoir

Treasureton Reservoir near Preston will likely be drained in mid September to allow an irrigation company to complete repairs to the dam.

Since fish in the reservoir will be killed as water levels become unsuitable, the Idaho Fish and Game Department has authorized a a salvage order for the reservoir beginning Saturday August 18 and continuing through November 1, 2018.

During that time, fish may be taken by any method except the use of firearms, explosives, chemicals, and electric current. Fishing with bait during the salvage timeline is allowed. All bag, size and number limits are suspended, but a valid Idaho fishing license is still required.

If water temperatures drop sufficiently, Idaho Fish and Game may attempt to move some of the fish to other suitable waters in the region.
