Dogs gather for 11th annual “Mutt Strut”

Dogs gathered this morning for the 11th annual “Mutt Strut” hosted by the Snake River Animal Shelter.

The 5K is a fundraiser for the shelter, but it is also a way to celebrate the re-homeing of homeless animals. Dogs brought their humans to the event to meet other dogs and try out new things such as an agility course. There were also prizes for dogs and their owners. The animal shelter said they the didn’t have any adoptable dogs available because they are getting adopted quickly.

“We’re at a really low inventory time at our shelter right now,” said Kristin Sanger, executive director for the Snake River Animal Shelter. “We are adopting them as fast as we get them in so we’ve been able to help a lot of transfer partner.”

The Snake River Animal Shelter operates entirely on donations, sponsorships and fundraisers. They say they hope to make about $10,000 from today’s event.
