Idaho Falls looking for basketball referees

Do you enjoy basketball? Are you energetic? Are you positive?

The City of Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation is looking for you to referee basketball games.

Recreational adult league basketball games start September 10 and run through March.

Additional opportunities refereeing 7th/8th-grade ages and 9th-12th-grade leagues will begin in October.

Parks and Rec say experience playing basketball is required, and experience refereeing basketball is a plus; however, training will be provided.

You must be 18 years or older and available to referee in the evenings between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

There are two to three games played each night, so you must be physically fit.

The majority of games are played on Monday and Wednesday nights until mid-October then Tuesday and Thursday nights are also used for a 7th/8th-grade league.

In January, a high school league also starts, so Parks and Rec said you could find yourself refereeing 7th/8th-grade games, 9th-12th-grade games and adult games.

High school and adult league pay $22 per game, and Jr. High league pays $18 per game.
