BYU-Idaho students take advantage of summer session

Official 2018 Summer Session enrollment numbers for both on-campus and online students at Brigham Young University-Idaho show students are taking advantage of summer course offerings, particularly online.

A total of 3,272 students are currently enrolled in at least one course.

BYU-Idaho’s summer session is a six-week academic term between the spring and fall semesters, and courses are condensed to allow students to continue their academic progress year-round.

Statistics released for the 2018 Summer Session show that 343 students are taking classes on campus, 967 campus-based students are taking online courses, and another 239 students are fulfilling internships.

In addition, 1,723 online students are also taking at least one course, an increase of 18.7 percent over last summer’s comparable online student enrollment of 1,452.

Officials say continued growth in enrollment can be attributed, in large part, to BYU-Idaho’s unique educational emphasis.
