Idaho Falls Zoo reveals new African penguin chick’s gender and name
It’s a boy!
The Idaho Falls Zoo is proud to introduce Nelson, their new African penguin chick.
Nelson’s gender was discovered during a special gender reveal party Thursday afternoon at the zoo.
Nelson is named after the former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela.
He hatched on June 28 and is now being hand-raised by animal care staff in the penguin building.
Nelson is the first chick to hatch at the zoo since 2016.
