Blackfoot movie theater to open in October
The Blackfoot community has been waiting for the new Blackfoot Movie Mill to open. And they’ll have to wait a bit longer. The theater is still about four to five weeks out from opening. While there hasn’t been too many challenges with construction, it is taking just a bit longer due to a few changes.
“The main hallway, when we kind of mapped it out before we framed it, it just wasn’t going to be big enough,” said Brandon Lott, manager of the theater. “So we accommodated for that and made it a little bit wider. And we lost some seats in a couple of the theaters, but I think it will be worth it to have a wider hallway for the general public to walk through.”
Once it is all finished, the theater will have seven screens and some of the most up to date technology in the state.
“We’re excited about the technology that we have with the projectors, the laser projectors and the 7.1 sound and all of those things,” said Kent Lott, owner of the theater. “But this will be great for the city of Blackfoot.”
Family and community is the main focus of the theater.
“One of the fun things is the enthusiasm from the community. Everybody’s been super supportive,” Kent said. “Everywhere we go in town somebody’s asks us about it and they’re excited. We have people stop all the time that just want to walk through. So that part’s been fun.”
Lott is hoping the theater will open in October. For updates on the theater, go to the theater’s Facebook page here.
