Grid Kid Football rallies around friend

The Thunder Ridge Football Grid Kid Blue Team is rallying around a very sick friend right now. His name is Han Wheeler. His parents are Joshua and Laramie Wheeler.

Han is in Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City right now. He was diagnosed with brain cancer back in mid-August. Doctors have taken out the tumor, but they worry is will grow back.

Han is a fourth-grader at Rimrock Elementary School in Bonneville County, He is almost 10 years old.

His friends, who are captains on the football team, wanted to dedicate their final game of the season to him and raise money.

“They felt like that was one way for them to recognize their good friend and to show that they are behind him and that they are doing everything that they can to fight his fight alongside him,” said fourth-grade coach Ken Huseboe.

The game is Saturday, Oct. 6, at 9 a.m. at the new Thunder Ridge Stadium on First Street in Bonneville County. Thunder Ridge Blue will be playing Idaho Falls Black. The four captains and other people will be wearing yellow, which is the color of childhood cancer awareness.

Fans can donate at the game or buy a “Team Han” T-shirt. There will also be a raffle. Or if you can’t make it to the game, you can donate on Han’s website here.
