Night of lights in Old Town

Pocatello will ring in the Christmas season with a Light Parade in Old Town beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Organizers say there will be hundreds of floats, all with beautiful lights, and treats for the kids.

As part of the night, “Relight the Night” will unveil its latest restoration project.

Committee Chair Randy Dixon said Old Town has seen 12 historic neon signs reintroduced to the community since the locally famous “Chief Theatre” sign was relit on November 29, 2013.

The latest will be the “Hotel Yellowstone.” A formal relighting ceremony will begin at around 8:30 p.m. at the close of the light parade.

Pocatello Police ask people not to park on the parade route. Signs will be posted so you know where that is. They point out that parked vehicles present an obstruction to the view and a danger to the public.

Old Town will celebrate Small Business Saturday with a number of activities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., including free photos with Santa, milk, cookies, free trolley rides, and art projects.
